Oncidium sphacelatum

Oncidium sphacelatum

This large epiphytic species is widely called the golden shower or popcorn orchid. It stands out for very tall, branching sprays that carry many small flowers. Best performance comes with bright filtered light, warmth, and regular moisture. North American growers keep it indoors or in greenhouses except in frost free zones. Blooming is most common from winter to spring. Flowers are mildly fragrant.
