Cookie policy (EU)

This page explains which cookies Your Flowers Guide sets, what each one does, and how to change your choice at any time. It describes the site as it actually runs; nothing here is boilerplate copied from another website.

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some cookies are needed for pages to work at all. Others measure how the site is used, and others let advertising partners choose which advertisements to show. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, device identifiers) are covered by the same rules and the same choices described here.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent banner appears on your first visit. It is provided by Mediavine, the advertising partner that runs the advertisements on this site, and it records whether you allow advertising and analytics cookies.

You can reopen that banner and change your answer at any time: scroll to the bottom of any page and use the privacy or consent link in the footer, or clear this site’s cookies in your browser and reload the page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and the site keeps working either way: you will still see advertisements, but they will not be personalised.

Strictly necessary

Set by the website itself and by our hosting. They keep pages loading, remember your consent choice so the banner does not reappear on every page, and protect the contact form from automated abuse. These cannot be switched off, because without them the site does not function.

Advertising and measurement: Mediavine

Advertisements on this site are sold and delivered by Mediavine. Mediavine and its approved partners set cookies to place advertisements, cap how often the same advertisement is repeated, and measure whether an advertisement was actually seen. With consent, these cookies may also be used to select advertisements based on your interests. Mediavine’s own privacy policy lists its partners and their purposes.

Analytics: Google

Google Analytics tells us which pages are read, how readers arrive and where they leave. The reports are aggregate: they describe traffic, not individuals. We use them to decide what to write next and what to fix.

Embedded content

Some pages embed material from other services, for example video players. When you interact with embedded content, that service may set its own cookies under its own policy. We do not control those cookies.

Session cookies disappear when you close the browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set period, from a few days for measurement to about a year for your consent choice, so you are not asked again on every visit. Exact durations are set by the service that places the cookie and are listed in the consent banner’s detail view.

Every major browser lets you see stored cookies, delete them, and block them for a specific site. Blocking all cookies will break parts of this and most other websites; blocking third-party cookies alone usually does not.
